Hi Everyone,
I am Patrick Carruthers, VP Finance for the Students’ Union and your secondary delegate for ANSSA --- which is a Provincial lobbying group for Post-Secondary Education.
Some exciting news from the Inn….Sean Ryan, Kris MacSween and I have been working diligently reviewing a few bids to replace the non-existing audio equipment in the Inn. After thorough evaluation with bids from Tour Tech, Glubes, Long & McQuade we decided to go with local players Shannon Aubrecht and Matt Cameron at Impact Sound. Our new equipment will enable us to have great sounding live music and a booming in-house DJ. One major benefit of this project is the sound is going to be evenly disbursed throughout the entire bar, as we won’t be killing everyone’s ears with 125 Db near the stage. Prior to our acquisition of this equipment we had to pay a fee every time for every show that wasn’t based on a compact disc. It will definitely pay dividends over the next fifteen years, and plus it is going to sound amazing! We all can’t wait to show you on opening night at the first Wing Night.
As Nick mentioned in an earlier post, we are very involved with the Alliance of Nova Scotia Students’ Association. It has been very helpful for our team to develop relationships with other Executive Teams to see what their Universities are going through. On the lobbying front, we are looking at a few initiatives to pressure the NDP Government to improve the plight of students’ in Nova Scotia – it’s not going to be easy!
On another note, our auditors are coming through at the start of July - should be a fun time……
